This film was transferred from 1 x 250 ft. 16 mm Kodacolor film reel and includes footage of the removal of an ovarian cyst and an inguinal herniotomy surgery performed by Dr. Mont Rogers Reid at the Cincinnati General Hospital, August, 1935. It is thought that the title of the film is a misnomer as numerous experts viewing the video have suggested that the procedure is not a herniotomy, but rather a herniorrhaphy.  The film was converted by ColorLab and the work was made possible by a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation.
